About Way To Be
What is Pilates?
Pilates
is a fantastic method of exercise that focuses on developing a long,
lean and strong body. Joseph Pilates founded this brilliant movement
system in the early 1900's. He once said that his method "develops the
body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality,
invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit." With Pilates you work
from the inside out by using the deep core muscles. It is famous for
the controlled, elegant, and fluid movements, which explains why yoga,
ballet, and martial arts all have roots in this style of exercise. Some
of the guarunteed benefits of regular practice include an increase in
muscle tone and strength, better balance and flexibility, and improved
posture. Participants often notice that they move with more ease and
have less back and neck pain. It really does work!
